Description

Finally, it's finished! This photograph of the SMC was a huge improvement since my last attempt at it last year. Even with a total of 4h exposure on each panel, the noise amount was considerable, as this dwarf galaxy stays very low on the horizon and right above the closest and strongest source of light pollution in my skies. I pretty much enjoyed the result- but honestly can't wait to repeat and improve the average quality.

The first panel was photographed back in September and finished during November. The whole project took a bit longer than I've wanted, considering the current rain season that extends itself until march, and clear nights get incredibly rare.

Fortunately, in the meantime, I managed to finish another project at my observatory: the consolidation of the pier. With a PVC pipe and an accessory made by Leandro Fornazieiro, my mount turned out to be very firm and had almost no vibration when using the 200mm lens. The difference to my old hollow tripod is huge. Thus, I got much better stability and guiding.
